Testimonials

Good morning Ed,

I want to say thank you for a great evening on Saturday. What a fabulous  band Larkrise Ranters are.  We made £850 towards church roof repairs.  Thank you again.

Best wishes,

Liz. (October 2022)

Dear Edwin

Thank you, and all the Larkrise Ranters very much indeed for a marvellous evening of lively music and dancing which made such a big contribution to the happiness of the Lathbury Road Community Platinum Jubilee Street Party.

You chose lovely tunes and dances that seemed just right for the occasion.   It was particularly wonderful to be helped by such clear calling, and even, when needed, demonstrations too!    And it was great to see how many people joined in the dancing, overcoming their inhibitions, tempted by the music and the spirit of the dance!

So please accept very many hearty thanks, from all of us, to the Larkrise Ranters for a truly memorable evening!

With best wishes

Dear Ed and Lesley,

We just wanted to say a really heartfelt thank you for playing at our wedding on Sunday. It really was the most magical thing for us to see so many of our favourite people having so much fun, especially after the past 18 months. SO many people have commented on how much they loved the ceilidh, and have specifically said what an excellent caller Lesley was.

We recognise that herding our motley crew of guests (participants aged from 9 months to 90 years) was like asking you to herd cats, and you did it with such grace and humour. We really loved it, and we know loads of others did to.

Please do pass on our thanks to everyone in the band – we really are very grateful!

Best wishes,

Becks and Ellie (August 2021)

Dear Ed,

Please pass on my thanks to all the Larkrise Ranters for their amazing playing and calling on Saturday.  All present had a great time, and I’ve already been asked to pass on your contact details for future bookings…  We really appreciated the way you got everyone up and prancing around – just the right level of accessibility/difficulty.

 Best wishes,

Emma (June 2019)

Dear Ed,

Just a quick note to thank you and your band for an amazing evening last Saturday. The weather wasn’t helping at all but overall we managed to raise £2000 for the Rhinos and Rangers which was well over what I had hoped for.

Thank you again, you were all brilliant and if I am offered the venue again I will be calling you for your services, hopefully with a bit more notice this time!

Best Wishes,

Sharon (June 2019)

Hi Edwin

It was lovely to meet The Larkrise Ranters at the weekend.

Thank you so much for a wonderful performance on Saturday night.

The delegates enjoyed it very much.

Apologies for our late arrival and for the confusion over the seating arrangement for dinner. I hope you enjoyed the meal in the end.

With many thanks for your support

Warm wishes

I keep forgetting to email you to say many thanks to your group for a wonderful evening on Friday Dec 7th.

Your group was ideal as the dances were not too complicated with clear instructions. the volume of the music was just right as some people who did not wish to dance were able to talk to others.

I am already being asked whether I am going to repeat the event next year!

A happy Xmas to all of you

Dear Lesley and all the band

You  gave us such a wonderful afternoon.

You judged it exactly right. We have been receiving feedback from people of all ages, families with children, and our elderly members (one of whom is 101 years old). And ages in between. It was a real challenge for you because of the heat and humidity, but you gave us lovely music, and the photos show people dancing and thoroughly  enjoying themselves. Even the baroness danced! Your sensitive way of giving us gaps of lovely music between the dances   gave people the energy to have the fun of dancing together. So a huge thank you. I hope the journey home was not too difficult. You must have been very tired, but hopefully very happy to feel you had given nearly 200 people so much pleasure. THANK YOU

Best wishes,

Tina and Ian

Dear Ed,

I thought I would just drop you a quick email.

I wanted to thank you and the rest of the band for helping us to put on a truly wonderful evening of dancing, fun and fundraising! It went down superbly and the band really made the evening the success that it was. Many have asked for your details so you will be receiving many more bookings from us all in the future!

The music was fantastic and the caller guided us all through all the steps and dances. It was a real mixed bag of abilities, ages and backgrounds but remarkably (for us, not you) the dances all went without a hitch! All the villagers are still talking about it and we are planning an even bigger one next year which we will of course ask you back for once we have finalised a date!

Please pass on our thanks to the rest of the band as well and feel free to put this on your website etc.

Many thanks again, Laura Ashton-Phillips

Dear Ed
I just wanted to thank you and the band so much for a truly wonderful evening of music and dancing.
The band had a lovely melodious and vivacious sound and the dances were perfectly judged to encourage us all to join in and really get into it. It was huge fun and just the right amount of challenge and relaxation.
Thank you so much for being part of making my fiftieth birthday party everything I could have wished for.

Hi Ed
A belated thanks to you and the band for a great night.
We especially liked the variety of dances and the fact that most of the tunes had a Scottish flavour.
Hope we can use you again in the future

Dear Lesley,
Thank you to you and the band members! A wonderful time was had by all! My husband showed me the pictures on the computer this morning and there are just smiles all around. The music you played was super and the calling was absolutely pitched at all ages. Do let us know if there is a way to write a review or recommendation and I would be happy to do so.

Dear Ed and the Larkrise Ranters
We all had a great evening on Friday at Cumnor. Thank you very much for your amazing contribution, we all loved the music and Lesley’s excellent calling. So many people asked how we found such fantastic musicians – so a big thank you to Google too.

Dear Larkrise Ranters,
We are now en route to the airport for our honeymoon, and will of course write properly when we are home, but we wanted to thank you for playing so beautifully on our  wedding day! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on the dancefloor, and you made it so easy for everybody to join in by calling the dances so well. Young and old flocked to dance and enjoy your wonderful music. We loved our first and last dances, and you gave us a great send off! Thank you.
We hope you had a moment to enjoy the cheese board and wedding cake! With much love, From Mr and Mrs Cook x

Dear Ed,
We had a really great time at the Milton village barn dance, and your band & caller were fantastic, so much so that we have decided to do the same again for ‘Fete 2015’!

Hello Ed,
I just wanted to say thank you so much for playing and calling on Saturday evening. Sorry not to meet you properly myself, too much going on. But it was a great evening, and everyone has been commenting on what a great band you were. My legs are paying for all the dancing now though! It was a very enjoyable night, made more so by the wonderful music.
Thank you, and best wishes,

I would like to thank you for the Ceilidh Music provided by your team during the Burns Night Function in the RAF High Wycombe Officers’ Mess on Friday 27 January 2012.  The evening was a great success, and I have received many complimentary comments about the music you provided. A great time was had by all.

I just wanted to say that last night was a huge success thanks to the enthusiasm of the band – I think there were very few people who didn’t get up to dance!
It was definitely the best party we have been to and a fantastic way to get lots of different groups of people joining in together. Thank you again.

Dear Ed,
Jon and I just wanted to thank you and the rest of the band for a fantastic ceilidh on 14th April [2012].   Your caller was brilliant and made it so easy for our English friends to join in!
I was amazed that so many of our guests kept the dance floor full all evening and looking back at the photos it was obvious that everyone had a great time.
Many thanks again and  I’d have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone looking for a wedding ceilidh.

Dear Ed,
Alex and I thought to send a note to say “thank you” to you and the Larkrise Ranters for playing at our wedding. We had an absolutely wonderful time. Alex and I and the guests enjoyed it very, very much. Our guests loved the ceilidh and thought that it was really great to dance with almost everybody and how beautifully it spanned across the various ages, groups and musical tastes.
Thank you again and all the best for the future….and we
secretly hope that one of our friends may book you for future
occasions, so that we get the chance to dance again.
